Phantom Lines, 2021
Phantom Lines is a photobook that visualizes the theoretical division that is created between genres of photography. Phantom Lines features a combination of images collected from my personal body of work, alongside images which have been sourced from commercial, documentary, educational, and scientific archives.
The concept of Phantom Lines is to allow viewers of the work to consider how genres of photography function separately, as well as the similarities that exist between images from distinct categories. The selected images are presented in a sequence that allows viewers to consider how these images interact having been recontextualized within the book, as well as how they may have functioned in their original contexts. A comparison between the aesthetics and content of images is introduced by Phantom Lines with the goal of allowing viewers to form their own narratives through interpretation.
